Counselling & Therapy Services
I work to assist individuals of all ages, couples, and families as they face life's challenges. I help my clients to recognize the strengths they possess but often dismiss. Together we develop the skills needed to manage and ultimately grow their mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well being. Theraputic approaches such as Deep Brain Reorienting and EMDR help clients struggling with issues and symptoms stemming from trauma, attachment wounds, anxiety, PTSD, and nervous system dysregulation.
Trauma Recovery
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)®
DBR aims to access and process traumatic experience by tracking the original sequence of physiological responses that occurred when the deep brain had been alerted to a threat or an attachment disruption.
Healing Trauma at the Nervous System Level
Sometimes trauma isn't just remembered. It's felt.
A tightening in your chest.
A knot in your stomach.
A racing heart.
A sudden urge to pull away, shut down, or stay constantly on guard.
You may "know" you're safe yet your body continues reacting as though danger is still present.
The body's reactions are not signs of weakness but rather evidence of it's efforts to protect you.
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is a body (nervous system based) therapy that works with the brain's earliest protective responses, helping the nervous system finally resolve experiences that have not been fully processed.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
I also offer clients the opportunity to collaboratively engage
in the therapeutic process known as EMDR - short for
(Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing).
Initially used to aid clients experiencing symptoms of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) such as flashbacks, phobias and panic attacks, EMDR has been found to be effective in the relief of a wide variety of ailments. This therapeutic protocol allows clients to target specific challenges such as anxiety, depression, over-reactive anger, worrying and intrusive thoughts, disturbed sleep, and maladaptive coping strategies such as substance abuse.
